Our feature performer up from San Francisco is Moshe Cohen, founder of Clowns Without Borders USA and a wonderful European-style comic. The San Francisco Chronicle recently praised his “Decidedly Wondrous Approach to Clowning”. The show will be emceed by Rhys Thomas, king of the highbrow comedy patter. And of course featuring the very finest of Portland’s flourishing physical theater, vaudeville, and new circus community
Charlie Brown, world-famous manipulator of objects
Leapin’ Louie Lichtenstein, comic lasso-twirler extraordinaire
The Bellini Twins, hilarious idiocy as seen on Jay Leno last year
Michael O’Neill, hilarious clown man
Adam the Great, confounding magician
Angel Ocasio, “Clown Prince” of the Rose Festival
Kyoko Uchida, astonishing acrobat.
and more …
With live music by the Shoehorn Hat Band!
The show will raise money to support Clowns Without Borders-USA’s work with children and their communities, relieving trauma through laughter and play in areas of crisis around the world. CWB-USA is sending another team of professional circus theatre performers/instructors to Haiti in January to continue work with communities still living in tent camps since the 2010 earthquake. CWB-USA is also continuing ongoing projects in crisis-affected communities in Burma, Colombia, Ecuador, and Indonesia, Mexico, Peru, and here in the USA.
Clowns Without Borders-USA strives to relieve trauma through laughter in areas of crisis around the world. Socially conscious and circus-loving Portland, Oregon, has for a long time been the most active hub of CWB volunteers and supporters in the US!
